Here's a little parable I heard in St. Patrick's Cathedral: A young man visits a wise old man and asks the question, "Why are so many rich people unhappy?" The wise man says, "Son, we see life through a glass, darkly. Come over to the window here and tell me what you observe." The young man looks out the window and says, "I see people walking around, going about their lives." The wise man leads the young man over to a mirror and says, "And tell me what you see now." The young man says, "I just see myself." The wise man gets that look that all wise men get when they're about to hit you with the big, sneaky revelation, and he says: "That's what happens when the glass is coated with silver."

"Oh," the young man says, "I get it now."
